Many companies around the world are finding that the volume of fax traffic they encounter is falling but that fax is still a business critical part of their communications infrastructure. As Nidera found when they conducted a recent technology review, investing in the latest Lane fax server not only delivers the latest technology but also considerably lowers costs through consolidation, centralisation and virtualisation.

Send & Receive faxes via Lotus Notes
Enterprises running IBM Lotus Notes and Domino can now use Passport 4000 to simply and securely send and receive faxes directly to and from their user’s Lotus Notes email client or iNotes. Minimal staff training is needed as there is no new interface to learn so outbound faxing is simple and inbound automatic forwarding rules meet processing and routing requirements. Custom designed HL7 solution
Lane has recently developed a custom HL7 solution for Kettering Medical Center, Ohio. Lane’s Passport fax and messaging solution is already incorporated into the Sunquest laboratory information systems relied on by Kettering but they were having difficulty delivering CoPath reports to physicians via HL7 where the patient was outside the hospital network.

Lane’s development team designed a Passport 4000-EMR interface option that converts standard Sunquest Pathology reports into HL7 version 2.x, the currently accepted message format understood by most EMR applications. The interface allows Kettering Medical Center’s outreach facility to meet the growing requirement for delivery of reports electronically while continuing to support fax and other methods currently provided by the Passport Message Server.

Lane Passport 4000 leading the way
Lane’s Passport 4000 Fax Server has become one of the first fax solutions to pass compliance testing for Avaya’s latest IP telephony systems. Passport 4000 has been compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with: Aura Communications Manager 5.2.1, System Manager S8510, Session Manager S8510, S8370 Servers and G650 Media Gateway. This provides businesses operating Avaya Voice over IP systems with a fully compatible solution for bringing fax onto their IP network. Converging voice, data and fax onto a single network can reduce complexity, management overheads and costs. Running a Fax over IP system can also improve disaster readiness, customer service and eases the deployment of an integrated enterprise-wide fax solution.

Lane expands presence in large International Bank
One of the world’s largest banks has shown its confidence in Lane by further expanding an already substantial fax and message handling system in several of its international offices. The latest addition is an extra 120 fax ports configured over multiple platforms for resilience and connected to the Orange network via four Primary rate ISDN circuits. The received faxes will get passed to an in-house application via a customised secure FTP process from where they can be accessed by various French offices. This expansion will take the overall system to a massive 324 fax ports processing approximately 20,000 fax pages every day. more

New look for Lane
Lane has been at the forefront of messaging technology for 30 years, but we don’t intend to rest on our laurels.  So we’ve recently undergone a complete update of our corporate identity, which we feel more closely reflects the more strategic way in which Lane’s fax server technology is now used by clients. In addition, we’ve produced a new website and set of literature, which communicate more clearly this change in focus. You can download brochures, case studies and datasheets in the Resources section of this site.

Lane launches Passport 4000 Fax Server
To meet the growing demand from clients to use fax as a strategic messaging service, Lane has launched the Passport 4000 Fax Server.  This updates our previous Passport Message Server system and builds on its successful use in 50 countries, across industries including finance, transport and healthcare. The new Passport 4000 Fax Server offers an even more powerful, flexible and customised solution which integrates fax and messaging systems across an entire enterprise and into consolidated data networks, across one site, many sites or across borders. ISO 9001 Accreditation
Lane is delighted to announce that it has received the much coveted ISO9001 accreditation.  This challenging international standard is awarded to companies which have in place a quality management system to ensure a product continues to meet both customer and applicable regulatory requirements. In addition, they must demonstrate commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction through effective product application and improvement. We underwent an exhaustive accreditation process carried out by specialist organisation The British Assessment Bureau, which verified that our systems do indeed meet these demanding quality standards.
